To celebrate Brazilian Music Day, we’re bringing you one of Brazil’s biggest hip hop stars, Marcelo D2. The rapper, formerly a member of the hip hop collective Planet Hemp, has produced a number of classic albums since going solo in 1998. Using samba and bossa nova samples instead of funk and solo and incorporating influences from punk and jazz, Marcelo D2 is one of the finest and most unique hip hop artists you’ll ever hear. We’ve got some great special guests to back him up too.

Cooly Goes Country!

For the first time ever The Bronx will grace Australian eastern shores and this is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity you don’t want to miss. Mondays, Thursdays and Fridays at the Cooly
Every Monday you can join the World Poker Tour League at the Coolangatta Hotel. Register at 10:30am for play at 11:30am and be part of a $200 guaranteed prize pool. On Thursdays, check out NRL on the big screens and on Friday’s check out live bands and DJs in the Beach Bar or try your luck at the meat raffle. Actually, there’s always something happening at the Cooly Hotel, so visit any day of the week and be entertained!

The Strand at Coolangatta is home to beachside boutique shopping, a dynamic mix of fashion, surf wear, supermarkets, gifts and homewares. There’s usually something going on around the Coolangatta Hotel, such as Beach Rugby on 12-14 October. The spectacular, fast-paced and exciting game is based on modified rules of Rugby Union, Rugby League and Touch Football, where men and women play five-a-side with up to five substitute players and run a beach arena of 30 metres in length. The sport is already popular in Brazil, Spain, France, Portugal and England and now it’s Australia’s turn to battle it out, right on Coolangatta Beach.
Get your tickets ready
Once you’ve scored tickets for the above you can use your in between time to get ready for the gig. Set a budget for each event (so you can stick around even longer and book tickets for more bands) and plan your concert outfits. Listen to the songs the bands will be playing so you can belt along with them too. Share that you’ve got tickets on your social media account so you can get your friends to come along and tweet the band or artist to let them know you’re coming. In the days before the event:
- Confirm your entry method (do you need to print your tickets or will mobile entry do?)
- Decide where you’ll park or source a designated driver or lift
- Confirm what time the doors open for your event and what time the warm up acts will take the stage
